PERSONAL STATEMENT
Improving my students' and clients’ career advancement and cross-cultural adaptability are twin goals. My teaching motto is TRY. I have learned that everyone usually can create higher quality work than they think they can. Teaching is about helping my students and clients do what they want to do and more. Everyone is able to contribute to our world in unique ways. I love finding out what those are and supporting that process.
I work on improving skills in writing; public speaking; interviewing; discussion; brainstorming; active listening; reading; research; time management; and effective individual & team interactions. This includes learning about adaptation; motivation; instincts; and professionalizing appearance. Fostering my students' and clients’ proactivity, including their ability to ask effective questions and take appropriate steps to achieve their goals, is paramount.
My students and clients are diverse and from many countries. They have included entrepreneurs; tech engineers; authors; athletes; professors; college and graduate students; parents; veterans of the USA’s and other countries’ armed forces; LGBTQIA+; people with disabilities; international; immigrants; DACA; formerly incarcerated; the first ones in their families to attend higher education; and those returning to school after a long time.
Cutting-edge projects that promote ingenuity and expand our ideas of what's possible excite me. In high school I started out in the fine arts. Using research and creativity, what I do now is foster greater access and achievement for more people.
